Blending with its alpine surroundings, the villa was crafted specifically for a professional paraglider, making the glide the focal point of the entire site. Nestled in a valley in upper Austria, the project utilizes locally sourced timber for construction. With the building used seasonally, spaces had to be easily heated and adaptable for various purposes. The workshop doubles as a guest room, all while remaining separate from the main living area.
Curved structure The design is informed by the glide's curved structure, which, despite its apparent complexity, is rationalized and constructed using straight wooden beams. This enveloping design shields south side of the site to keep this area from strong winds when the wing needs to be folded or repaired.
